Four days to go, now we can say that things are done in the globalwarming awareness2007 contest. On the official forum we are currently seeing some pathetic threads about who is spamming forums or buying links. One thing to remember : it is not a good idea to add rules to a seo contest. I would even say this contest globalwarming awareness2007 has been boring due to this rules. I hope that the staff will remember this for next year competitors.

Nice move : i am currently #37 on Yahoo for a globalwarming awareness2007 query even if i have lost a few positions on Google. Only height days to go now and there is still time for a few surprises i guess. The score card is very unstable at this time, particullary on Yahoo and MSN/Live search. I now do not hope anymore a gesture from MSN. But i still believe i can reach the first page on Yahoo maybe i will miss some time for this.

I am starting to share my observations in the globalwarming awareness2007 seo contest. In this first post i want to deal with outbound links weight. Some people are used to say on seo websites and forums that they do not link to external websites. That is quite illogical they are creating a dead-end for the search engines bots and also for visitors which is absolutely not the spirit of the web. I think there have been many improvements since Gray Wolf released his study case on that topic. As far as i am concerned i think outbound links can be a bonus for the ranking of a website but you will have to be very careful with who you are linking to. It seems quite obvious that the search engines expect webmasters to be responsible of the external links they are creating. In the original pagerank algorithm each link is considered as a vote for the page where it leads. I think it is more and more important to consider the hub score in the seo strategy of a website. If you want to find more informations about the outbound links weight and how it can be benefit for your ranking you should search about co-citation and read this excellent post of Jim Boykin.
To finish if you want to add a link to an authority website i advice you to link to this globalwarming awareness2007 entry ;)

It is moving very slowly but it is moving. I can currently see my globalwarming awareness2007 entry at the #50 position on Yahoo. So i have improved my ranking gaining almost 30 places since my last post about yahoo. I will keep doing some specifics optimizations for Yahoo but for Live search i think i am definitely lost that is why i do not have much to say about this search engine.

I just came back from holidays. I noticed that some competitors in the globalwarming awareness2007 contest were not on holidays because my position has dropped to page 2 on google dot com. About three weeks remaining to try to improve this and to finish at leat on the first page. It is always difficult in seo contest to keep the pressure and the link juice coming especially in the middle or at the very end of the contest. I would say that imho seo contests are just boring in fact but maybe that is because i am always loosing at the end ;)

Good news for my entry in the globalwarming awareness2007 contest. Yahoo has decided to give a chance to my page. I entered the top 100 at the 79° position. It is a good beginning i was starting to think that it will never happen. I still need to move up if i want to be in the top 3 on the overall scorecard. I will do some more yahooptimisations.

Nothing to do with globalwarming awareness2007, April the second, it is time to make a point on april fools in the seo world. And we really can say that this year has been a great millesime. Here is a screenshot of Matt Cutts weblog

The Dark SEO team is famous in the SEO field for having proved that the bacon polenta was not good for health and also for a 302 redirect thing. They replied to Matt Cutts just a few hours after he made the joke. Here is what we can currently see on their website.

Very funny guys, can not wait until next year !
